May 7th- Cambios!

Hello everyone!

Well, another 6 weeks has flown by. Hermana Gomez and I both really wanted to stay together here and... WE ARE!!! Yay, we're so happy. Also, we're getting a third companion! Woo hoo! Her name is Hermana Haycock, from Utah, and we both already know her. She came the same time as Hermana Hamblin, they were in the same district in the MTC. She's super excited to be coming and to be our companion. Yay, a trio! This will be different, but I'm super excited.  :)

Okay so I haven't written about investigators in awhile, how awful. Time to catch up a bit. Calle 1. Is awesome. We're teaching 3 people on the same street haha. Jennifer, Luisa, and Veronica. Veronica's been to church once and had a baptism date with her daughter Scarlett who's 9. Their date was for the 12th but they haven't been to church so we have to re-put their date for later. But Veronica likes everything we teach her and she liked church. She hasn't prayed about it and gotten an answer but she likes it all and wants to be baptized. We haven't been able to find her this week so we are gonna keep trying with her. Jennifer has a friend who served a mission and they talk about the church a lot at work. She also loves our visits and says she feels super good (the Spirit). But she went to church and didn't love it. Her kids are kinda crazy so she was trying to control them the whole time, we're thinking that's why she didn't love it lots. Hopefully she will come again so she can keep progressing. Luisa is super special. She's a single mom, probably 25 or maybe a little older. She has a 5 year old named Sergio and he is sooo stinkin cute. She has gone to Evangelical churches (like everyone in Los Alamos) but hasn't liked the way she feels there and is searching for the truth. She is so sweet but lonely. We have become good friends with her and just love her so much. We taught her the word of wisdom and she has a little problem with coffee and tea. She studies and drinks coffee to keep her awake during all her studying. Well this past weekend she had a kinda breakdown. Her ''friends'' took her to a club and she drank and smoke. And she hated it. She said she felt so awful and she wanted to die. She also came to the conclusion that coffee and tea she should give up because she doesn't feel good when she drinks them. Yep, like we said it's bad for you :)  She said it's better to throw them all away. So I asked if we could do it right now and so we helped her throw away all her coffee and tea! It was super fun, I've always wanted to do that hehe. She had a baptism date for the 12th and then the 19th, but still hasn't been to church. But she does want to be baptized. So I pulled out the calendar and said look. You need to go to church at least 3 times before your baptism. Can you come the next three  Sundays? She said yes and that she would like to be baptized on June 2nd. SO hopefully all goes well and she can come to church and be baptized finally! She's great I love her lots.

Another person we've been teaching is Sharon. Sharon I just love a ton. She's 21 and has a little girl, she's like 2 almost I think? She lives with her boyfriend, the father of her baby. He's actually a member, but inactive. He literally runs out of the house every time we come over, which is super annoying because we want to get to know him and help him to come back to church. But he always has some excuse for why he can't. Anyway Sharon is great. She always reads in the Book of Mormon and prays and has tons of questions. She loves it. The only problem is that she's not married. We've talked about it for a long time, but she said in the past that she wanted to wait to get married until they had money for a party. Didn't want to do the civil wedding thing and have a party later. BUT we were visiting her last week and out of nowhere she told me that she and her boyfriend went to find out about the paperwork for a civil wedding!!! What?! We are so excited! She's like yeah let's do this already. She's excited. So we put a baptism date with her for May 26th and she accepted. But she didn't come to church yesterday. Which was suuuper dissappointing. We don't know why. But she will hopefully be getting baptized this cambio also. I hope so!!!

We're teaching other people too obviously, but those are the main ones. Evelyn apparently has forgotten that she's already gotten her answer about the church, because she tells us she's still waiting for an answer. Ugh. It's super hard sometimes and breaks our hearts when people don't progress because we can see how close they are and we know of the amazing blessings they have waiting for them in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All we can do is love them and try to figure out how we can help them better. But we're super happy that we're gonna be here one more cambio so we can hopefully see the baptisms that we've been working so hard for.

To finish up, I just wanted to share something I've been thinking about/realizing lately. The major impediment that we have against accomplishing what we want is OURSELVES. We can do ANYTHING if we put our minds to it. There are no limits. Really. We put limits on ourselves. When we have great faith and work to meet that faith, we can do anything. Never think that something's not possible, I'm guilty of doing that in my own life. But I am learning that Heavenly Father wants the very best for us, and will help us achieve it. We can do it.

Parents, I love you ''un monton'' (a mountain) and I can't wait to skype you on SUNDAY!!!

The church is true. And it's a marvelous work and a wonder indeed.  :)

Love and hugs,
Hermana Anderton
